Andrea & Dogs

About Andrea

I am a small town Iowa native and joined the Navy right out of high school. While my vocation was that of an airframes mechanic, my love for animals was always first and foremost in my life, and I had always planned on pursuing a career related with them.

I'm currently a foster and rescuer with Gulf Coast Dachshund Rescue, and have volunteered at the pound and with various rescues at my past duty stations. Married and divorced, I am currently single and plan on staying that way, preferring to devote my life to the unconditional love of my dogs and tolerance of my existence by my cats. I live in southern Mississippi on the Gulf Coast with my pack of critters, limited to mostly dachshunds and an assortment of cats.

Through the years, I've accumulated a large pack of companions, each and every one someone else's cast off, much like myself. Together we've formed a pack, The Anipals, and they have been my family.  Wanting to communicate with my pets and find out what I could do to help make their lives better, I sought out the services of Sheila Trecartain, who trained me to learn to listen to what I'd been hearing all these years from my animals, and how to listen to the voices that so often go unheard.

I will retire from the Navy in Oct of 2010, and finally be able to pursue a career helping the animals I so dearly love.
